Michael Baxter has spent around £10,000 getting inked.

His huge back tattoo of Simpsons characters means he might just make the Guinness World Record for most cartoon character tattoos.

He told MailOnline: "'Guinness have accepted my application, but I have a lot of paperwork to fill out."

Michael says he began to fall in love with tattoos over a decade ago, but only recently began to get obsessed with cartoons.

According to Michael his love for tattoos began over a decade ago, but it wasn't until he recently discovered a local tattoo studio that his animation fixation really took off.

The design, by artist Jade Baxter-Smith, has taken 130 hours in total.

She said: "Michael came to me and said he wanted all The Simpsons characters on his back. I laughed and thought he was joking."

Michael also has a tattoo of Stewie from Family Guy on his thigh and a number of designs on his arms, which include tributes to his parents.

According to Time: "Baxter hopes for world record recognition on Dec. 17, which also happens to be the 25th anniversary of the premiere of The Simpsons."
